Unlike traditional rain jackets
Heavy rain shells can feel clammy and restrictive when you're actually moving. The Altitude is designed to regulate comfort during motion — the recycled nylon moves with you, breathes while you work, and doesn't weigh you down when conditions ease. Pack it into a vest pocket and forget it's there until you need it.
Two ways to wear it
5–20°C: The Altitude alone is all you need for a full day of active hiking and trekking. Blocks wind, handles light weather, packs down to nothing.
Negative temperatures / snow: Wear it as your inner layer with a down jacket over the top. One of TheRec's customers wore it as her only layer inside a mountain room at negative temperatures all day — then simply layered her down jacket over it when she headed out into the snow.
Is it sustainable?
The Altitude is made entirely from 100% recycled nylon — reducing reliance on virgin petroleum-based fabric. TheRec supports environmental cleanup initiatives across India. Gear you feel good wearing, in more ways than one.
Frequently asked questions
What temperature range does it work in?
Standalone: 5–20°C for active hiking, trekking, and running. In negative temperatures and snow: inner layer with a down jacket over the top.
Is it waterproof?
Water-repellent, not waterproof. It handles light rain, drizzle, and mountain mist. For sustained heavy rain, use a dedicated waterproof shell.
Is it good for Himalayan or snow mountain treks?
Yes — as part of a layering system. Inner layer under your down jacket in snow conditions. Standalone for active trail days at altitude in milder temperatures.
How packable is it?
Compresses into a vest pocket or daypack side pouch. Light enough to carry every day and forget about until the wind picks up.
How do I choose my cut?
Male (Aquifer) and Female (Lilac) — two distinct patterns for different body shapes. Both in S, M, L, XL.
How do I wash The Altitude?
Machine wash cold with mild detergent on a delicate or small cycle. Tumble dry low.

Why a Size Chart is Essential
A Size Chart is crucial for ensuring that you choose the right size when shopping for clothes, shoes, or other items. It provides standardized measurements to help you understand the differences between various sizes. Whether you're shopping online or in a store, consulting the Size Chart helps reduce the chances of fit-related issues. By referencing accurate measurements, you can confidently select pieces that complement your body shape, enhancing your overall comfort and appearance. Remember, sizes can vary between brands, so it's always wise to check the specific Size Chart associated with the item you intend to purchase.
How to Measure Yourself for the Size Chart
To utilize the Size Chart effectively, you need to measure yourself accurately. Start by gathering a soft measuring tape, a notebook, and a pen. Measure key areas like your bust, waist, hips, and inseam, recording each measurement carefully. Ensure the measuring tape is snug but not too tight, and take measurements while standing up straight. If you're unsure about how to position the tape or record measurements, there are numerous online guides and videos available. Taking your time to obtain precise measurements ensures you choose the correct size according to the Size Chart, making the fitting process seamless.
Understanding Size Variations Across Brands
It's important to recognize that Size Charts can vary significantly across different brands and manufacturers. Each company may have its own sizing standards, leading to discrepancies in what constitutes a small, medium, or large. This is especially true for international sizing systems, where U.S., UK, and European sizes may not align perfectly. To navigate these variations, always refer to the specific Size Chart linked to the brand you are purchasing from. By comparing your measurements against the respective Size Chart, you can make informed decisions and reduce the likelihood of a poor fit. Always prioritize checking these details to enhance your shopping experience.
